Alfa bank: the volume of Internet payments has totaled $1.2 billion

Alfa bank has presented research work “Development of Internet payments in Russia”. According to the report, following the results of 2008, the volume of online-payments market (considering sales on bank cards in online-shops) has totaled $6 billion. Nearby $1.2 billion of it is the share of the cards, issued by Alfa bank. Thus, the number of Internet transactions, made by the bank customers, has grown twice as against of the last year.
Alfa bank forecasts, that in 2010 the market of online purchases will exceed $10 billion.
According to the poll, payments for telecommunication services win the first place among the Internet payments and totals 64 percent, payments for airlines and railway tickets – 43 and 28 percent, respectively.
