Biometric ATMs Now Available in Mumbai

Late in June, 2008, administration of Indian Canara Bank commissioned the first biometric ATM in Dharavi (suburb of Mumbai, State of Maharashtra).
The bank’s representatives hope that introduction of the biometric technologies will considerably facilitate the use of financial services for illiterate and semiliterate Indians, making the majority of Dharavi population. Now in order to get cash from their accounts they will just have to present their thumb prints.
