Central Bank of Russia: Total Number of Financially Unstable Banks Reached 150

According to Central bank of the Russian Federation, the total number of potentially problem Russian banks recently increased three times and exceeded 150. Gap in maturities of attracted funds and repaid ones create negative influence at Russian banks’ stability.

Difference between share of loans granted for more than one year and share of deposits grew to 12.3 percentage points compared with 9.9 in 2007. According to Bank of Russia report, the number of banks in the groups of reliable financial institutionsreduced by 9.6% from 1,021 to 922 banks only on the results of Q3, 2008.
