Hackers from Ufa Exchanged Currency on Profitable Rate
In Ufa (one of the industrial centers in the Western Urals area, the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia) criminals robbed ATM in supermarket in very unusual way. Using client’s keyboard and service code, fraudsters adjusted in ATM their own USD exchange rate as RUR1.500 per USD1 (real course for December 2008 – less then RUR30 per USD1). This way they exchanged USD800 to RUR1.2 mln. One of three hackers was detained on January, 29, 2009. Supposed criminals face imprisonment for 5-10 years and fine up to RUR1 mln.
