Introduction of Biometric Information Won’t Make Lithuanian Passports More Expensive

From the middle of the summer, 2009, digitized holder’s fingerprints will be inserted to the memory of new passports’ chips of Lithuanian citizens.

In this connection there are plenty of gossips about growth of biometric passports’ cost. According to Vilniaus diena newspaper, this information is available at passport office – supposedly document will cost not LVL100, but LTL300 (about USD115).

Lithuanian Migration Department confirms that this information is baseless.
