On September 9, 2008, during a press conference attended by the heads of MasterCard Worldwide, the first transaction on MasterCard PayPass card in the
territory of
Russia was announced. A purchase was made with MasterCard PayPass card within a demonstration of contactless payments at Moscow Five Stars restaurant of Prime Star chain, incorporated into the acquiring network of Expobank (Barclays Group).
