The growth
rates of the Ukrainian card market slowed down in the first part of 2009. Banks,
clients of the Ukrainian processing centre (UPC), showed the quantative
transactions growth by its issued cards in the first quarter of 2009, as
against of the same figures a year ago, however since April it has started to slow
down. Now we can observe a light falling of this figure. Banks have issued 87%
less cards in 2009 than in the same period in 2008.
