According to the poll held by Obschestvennoe Mnenie Foundation (“Public Opinion” Foundation), as of autumn of 2009 in Russia there were 42 million Internet users (36% of adults in the country). The core Internet audience – the daily audience – totals almost 24 million users, or about every fifth Russian adult (21%).
For the last year (since autumn of 2008) the number of Russian Internet users has grown by 22% (or 7.6 million people). Daily audience has grown by 35% (or 6.2 million users).
The share of Internet users In Moscow remains stable already for a year and totals about 60% of adults. Northwest federal district is the leader among federal districts. Here, the share of Internet users is 48% of the population. Southern federal district has the lowest figures – only 30%.
In total, 60,000 respondents of 18 years and above have taken part in this poll.
