Russian Post has declared the start of electronic exchange of international transfers with Lithuania from January 11, 2010.
Money will be transferred via the International financial system of the Universal Postal Union. In Russia money can be sent and received only in Russian roubles.
Earlier Russian Post and Lithuania exchanged only postal transfers using so-called “hybrid technology”. The information on transfer was sent electronically to the Information–computing center of Russian Post, and then via in hard copies via Post’s channels to Lithuania. Use of modern electronic technology will allow to reduce the time of money transferring: so, the average time of a transfer to Lithuania will take now 72 hours.
