The National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK) has developed the bill on creation and development of ecash system in the country. According to Vice–president  of NBK Batyrbek Alzhanov, the key purpose of this bill is to define a legal status of ecash and create a legal basis for its issue and use in Kazakhstan.

If the bill is approved by the Government, banks of Kazakhstan will be able to issue ecash in the national currency, and Internet users will have an opportunity to use them for online purchasing.

According to NBK, meanwhile citizens of Kazakhstan widely use ecash, issued by nonresidents. For example, WebMoney is very active in the country market.
