Igor Lipanov, acting Head of Individual Customer Settlement and Cash Services Department of Sberbank of Russia declared, that in May, 2010, United Russian Payment System (URPS, ex-SBERCARD) plans to start issuing PRO100 EMV cards. PRO100 cards will replace “off–market” SBERCARD cards, based on DUET platform.
By the end of 2010 Sberbank of Russia plans to issue 3 million EMV-cards. They will be issued within the limits of the Social card project. At present Social card projects are started in St.-Petersburg, Astrakhan, Tver and Krasnoyarsk regions.
