Abkhazia intends to create a national payment system to issue and support cards, including cards of international payment systems. Sergey Bagapsh, the President of the country, has signed an appropriate decree.
Today in Abkhazia none of any payment systems cards can be used. Abkhazians and visitors of the republic have to go to the Russian cities - Adler and Sochi to use their cards.
The National Bank of the Republic of Abkhazia is entrusted to create a national payment system, to use payment cards, including cards of the international payment systems, and to attract credit organizations and their branches, until December of 2010.
