According to J'son and Partners Consulting, in January, 2010, the number of SIM cards registered in Russia increased to 209.1 million cards. Now the mobile penetration in Russia as a whole is 147.3%, and in the license zone of Moscow – 186.2%. The total growth of subscribers in January, 2010 reached 0.78 million (0.38%).
For the last 12 months the total subscriber base of all Russian mobile operators increased by 20.1 million users (10.6%). As of January 31, 2010, MegaFone (+7.2 million) was ranked first, MTS (+4.4 million) – second, Tele2 (+4.2 million) – third and Vympelcom (+2.2 million) – fourth by this indicator.
