On March 19, 2010, Bank processing center has personalized the 2,000,000th BelCard card with a magnetic strip.
As of March 1, 2010, the shares of banks in the total BelCard–M card issue were as follows:
•ASB Belarusbank – 54%;
•BPS-BANK – 24%;
•Belagroprombank – 14%;
•Belinvestbank – 7%;
•Other banks – about 1%.
If the first million BelCard–M cards were issued from August of 2008 till October of 2009, then the issue of the second million of cards took less than 6 months, that is evidence of high rates of BelCard national payment system development.
