According to the National Bank of Kazakhstan, as of April 1, 2010, banks of Kazakhstan issued 7.837 million cards for 7.387 million cardholders. These figures are by 12.4% and 12.8% respectively higher than they were a year ago.
International payment cards are the most widespread in the country, their market share is 97.9%, and only 2,1% of the market belongs to the local cards.
