According to the information of Kazakhstan National Bank, Kazakhstani banks issued 7,973M cards as of May 1, 2010 and the total number of card holders is 7,471 mln. people. These numbers increased by 13.2% and 12.5% accordingly, in comparison to the same period of 2009.

International payment systems are more popular in the republic covering 97.9% and leaving only 2.1% to local payment systems. As of May 1, 2009 this proportion is 97.6% to 2.4%, accordingly.
