The number
of cards issued by the banks – members of Arca from January till June 2010
increased by 10% to 495,7 thousand cards, which is by 30% more than the same
index of the same period of 2009. According to Armenian Card, in May only the
banks issued 15 495 cards which is by 1995 cards less than in April.
Within five
months of 2010 the main increase of the number of cards was provided by MasterCard
cards – by 32,5% to 79 040 cards by June 2010 г.,
or 16% of all the cards issued by the banks – members of ArCa. The number of Visa
cards in January-May increased by 9,4% and reached 122 139 cards, the number of
local ArCa cards increased by 5,2% to 294 478 cards, their share of the total issue
is 59,4%.
