The company
"Mobilnye TeleSistemy" (MTS) and the Moscow subway announced their cooperation
in the development of innovative ways of subway fares payment. At the Saint
Petersburg International Economic Forum
these companies presented a complete technological solution for payment fares
with a cell phone using NFC technology.
New payment
option allows buying electronic subway ticket by transferring money from the subscriber’s
cell phone account. E-ticket will be downloaded into the memory of cell phone
which then would be used to get to the subway station. To use this new service
the subscriber would have to just bring the cell phone to the pay-gate reading device.
Commercial launch
of the project of the Moscow subway fare payment with mobile phones is
scheduled to the 4th quarter of 2010. There would be special offices
at the stations where MTS subscribers would be able to buy internal antenna for
their phones and to change settings to pay the fares.
