24-06-10 All the attempts to rob CIT operators and ATMs of Sberbank will be pointless
A briefing of Stanislav Kuznetsov, Senior Vice President of Sberbank of Russia dedicated to the “New format of CIT service of Sberbank of Russia” was held on June 23, 2010 at the headquarters of the bank.
According to Mr. Kuznetsov, 2 months ago Sberbank of Russia adopted a new concept of its CIT service development. Implementation of this concept would allow the bank to increase efficiency of CIT interaction with business departments of the bank and to optimize CIT operation costs. The concept suggests a complex approach to the safety of valuables in transit.
Stanislav Kusnetsov described one of the most important safety components – special cash shipping containers and tamper proof ATM cassettes.
Based on the results of the tender that included both thorough analyzing of the commercial offer and technical characteristics and field trials the equipment of the SQS company (Sweden) was chosen. According to the Senior Vice President of the bank this product completely complies with the requirements of Sberbank of Russia.
The safety mechanism of the container that paints cash with the special indelible ink is activated by any wrongful physical actions (attempt of tampering, explosion, shooting etc), influence of extra low or extra high temperatures, electromagnetic interference, radio and radar signals, pressure change, and by remote order that can be given by CIT operator in case of emergency.
After July 1, 2010 the CIT service of Sberbank will be already equipped with the first 420 containers. They would be used by Moscow and St. Petersburg CIT operators.
2011 was defined as the main transition period to the technology of special cash containers. The transition of all the CIT operations to the new technology will be completed at the beginning of 2012.
This is a large scale project: according to Mr. Kuznetsov as of today the CIT service of the bank includes 14.5 thousand guards and 4.6 thousand armored cars; it renders services to 19 thousand branches and 15.7 ATMs and terminals all over Russia. As the bank has announced the number of branches and self-service terminals will be considerably increased in the nearest future.
Stanislav Kuznetsov emphasized that the implementation of this project is cost-effective for the bank. Despite the high cost of a single container – about 160-180 rubles the bank is expecting recovery of these costs within the first 3-4 months. Total cost of the project is 7 mln rubles. As Mr. Kuznetsov said, the bank wouldn’t raise the CIT services price for the clients.
In the nearest future Sberbank of Russia is going to launch advertising campaign to promote this new format of CIT services. All the marketing events developed within this campaign should demonstrate futility of all the attempts to attack and rob CIT guards and ATMs of Sberbank of Russia.
