The volume
of money transfers made by individuals to Moldova from abroad via commercial
banks from January till May is USD 425.02 mln, which is by USD 19.78 mln (4.9%)
more than in the same period of 2009. According to the National Bank of Moldova
(NBM) in the first 5 months of 2010 about 84% (USD 357.18 mln) of the total
amount of transfers made in this period were sent via instant money transfer
systems. The total amount of transfers in May was USD 96.44 mln which is by USD
6.65 mln (7.4%) more than in May 2009 (USD 89.79 mln).
The
structure of the foreign currency transfers in May is the following: USD – 49.4%;
EUR – 41.1% ; RUR – 9.5%.
