According to the National Bank
of Ukraine (NBU) the sum of cards transactions in Ukraine in January-June 2010 grew
by 25% in comparison to the same period of 2009, despite the reduction of the
total number of cards in circulation by 1.2% since the beginning of 2010.
The number of transactions
made with cards issued by Ukrainian banks in the first half of 2010 increased
by 13% up to 322.11 mln.
According to the NBU as of July
1, 2010 140 banks were the members of domestic or international payment
systems, issuing and acquiring cards.
Cash withdrawal
transactions still prevail in the structure of transactions – 93.6% of the
total amount of cards transactions. The volume of cashless payments made with
cards grew by 4.93 bln grivnas (624 mln US dollars), up to 12.6 bln grivnas
(1.5 bln US dollars).
