Roscomnadzor of the RF addressed
the Association of the Regional banks of Russia in regard of the very low
number of credit institutions registered in the personal data operators
register. According to the letter of Roscomnadzor published at the association
web site as of today less than 1% of all the financial institutions are
registered in the register.
As of
today only 540 financial institutions are in the register when there are a bit
less than 1 thousand banks in the country. According to the check-up results
only 33 of TOP 50 major banks are in the register.
Sberbank of Russia, Alfa Bank,
Gazprombank, URALSIB and other banks are not in the Roscomnadzor register.
A number of banks announced
that they decided to inform the institution but only after their information
processing systems are in compliance with the requirements of the law. The banks
are going to do this till the end of 2010.
