According to the results of
the “Survey of the market of payment cards of the Republic
of Moldova” provided to the PLUS
Journal by the National Bank of Moldova
in the 1st half of 2010 the number of cards in circulation increased
by 1.7% in comparison to the same period of 2009. The total volume of transactions
made in Moldova
in the 1st half of 2010 grew by 9.8%.
The number
of cards in circulation issued by the banks of Moldova in the 1st half
of 2010 was 760 005 cards. The share of Visa cards is 62% of the total
number of cards, the share of MasterCard is 38%. The share of credit cards was
3% of the total issue; it reduced in comparison with the first half of 2009.
The total
volume of cards transactions in the first half of 2010 in the Republic of Moldova
was 7.7 mln, including 93% cash withdrawals and 7% cashless transactions (in
the 1st half of 2009 this number was 5%).
