In Mariupol, Donetsk Region (Ukraine), a young man was detained, who tried to crack an ATM of Prominvestbank by means of a sledgehammer. The incident occurred on December 3, 2008. Armed with a sledge hammer, the man approached the ATM and began to strike its monitor, hoping to find money behind it. When he understood, that the money was beyond his reach, the malefactor threw his tool of a crime away and rushed to run, not suspecting, that he was already registered by a video observation system. Next day all the photos and video data from the observation system were sent to the police together with a report on the cracking attempt. In a week the suspect was detained. It is noteworthy that it was not the first case, when bank robbers committed crimes with sledgehammers.
