Muhlbauer, a one-stop-shop technology partner for security solutions covering the complete TECURITY market, provides an innovative contactless UHF chip encoding technology, available already for all of its card personalization solutions.
UHF chips can be read out from greater distances than standard chips concerning the ISO 14443/15693 specifications. This is especially sensible for border crossings or police stop-and-search operations. Officers and border authorities can check travel documents before the direct face-to-face contact with the person for detailed authentication. As the chip only contains non-individual data, there are no problems with the privacy protection. It allows a fast and easy control process with simultaneous protection to read out personal data via the RF-interface. The low quantity of information stored in the chip enables only authorized personnel to get access to the data of the document holder. Therefore the data stored in the UHF-chip needs to be linked to the data stored in a separate data base to perform a detailed data verification. Therewith the UHF technology provides a further safer and secure possibility than verification of the optical personalized data only. Such cards are already realized in different driver’s licenses in the U.S., but also usefull for employees’ access control and similar ID projects.
Already for several years Muhlbauer realized the production of UHF inlays and their integration into various card bodies. Now, we are glad to announce that we are the only company worldwide that provides contactless UHF encoding technology for the complete card personalization product portfolio – from low to high volume as well as centralized and decentralized solutions. Due to the special technical requirements for UHF encoding, Muhlbauer provides adapted encoding stations for all personalization systems.
Furthermore, the UHF technology can be combined with a standard contact based or contactless chip in a so called hybrid card. The standard chip contains the biographical and biometrical data of the card holder and the additional UHF chip with non-sensitive information enlarges the usage possibilities as well as the security level of the card enormously. People can be recognized by the serial number from greater distances, but the individual data are read out by contact based readers or short distance contactless readers. So that the card holders can be sure that their data are not seen by an unauthorized person.
This is a most suitable solution to inexpensively enhance various ID card applications by an additional security feature as well as to enlarge the application possibilities itself.
