Sberbank of Russia has started the 1st stage of the pilot project “DUET technology replacement” to approbate a new technology of EMV standard for United Russian Payment System (URPS).
The first 100 EMV cards are issued for Kanash (Chuvashiya) inhabitants to use them in АТМ and bank’s terminal network and as a travel payment in public transport.
Within the terms of the pilot project these cards can be used in АТМs and terminals of the bank in Kanash, as well as in OPERA CА of Sberbank of Russia to make all basic operations (cash withdrawing and depositing, balance checking, money transferring from one card to another, paying for mobile communication and housing and communal services).
