According to J'son and Partners Consulting analytical company, by the end of 2009 the number of SIM cards registered in Russia increased up to 208.3 million pieces. Now the mobile penetration in Russia as a whole is 146.7%, and in the license zone of Moscow – 186.6%.
Within 2009 the total subscriber base of all Russian mobile operators increased by 20.4 million users (+10.9%). Following the results of the year MegaFone (+6.9 million) has been ranked first, MTS (+4.7 million) – second and Tele2 (+3.9 million) – third by this indicator.
And Tele2 (37.1%) and MegaFone (16%) demonstrated the highest rates of growth of subscribers in 2009 among the Big Four operators.
