President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met Chairman of the National Bank Yerbolat Dossayev.

During the meeting, Yerbolat Dossayev informed the President of the readiness for a pilot launch of the National Payment System in line with the instructions of the head of state.

The National Bank of Kazakhstan is implementing the digitalization of the financial sector. The important components of this work are the National Payment System and the digital tenge pilot project. Apart from that, the Interbank Payment Card System, which is under development, will allow localization of the processing of all domestic card transactions in Kazakhstan.

According to preliminary data, the National Payment System pilot is scheduled for launch before December 1, 2021. The National Bank believes this will help to start the removal of the payment systems fragmentation and ensure the payment market security in Kazakhstan.
