

Putin calls for toughest measures against fraudsters
With phone and Internet fraud in Russia reaching unacceptable levels, the President urged to respond quickly to the problem.
Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that Internet fraud in the Russian Federation has reached unacceptable levels. At a meeting with Cabinet members, the head of state called for quick response.
"The situation we are discussing is extremely acute. The damage inflicted by telephone and Internet fraudsters on citizens, and thus on the state, has reached just unacceptable sizes, very large. Therefore, we need to react promptly,” he urged.
According to the President, the discussions with the Cabinet members and representatives of law enforcement agencies showed that the algorithm of actions is already clear. “Let's implement all this quickly, without the so-called ‘cooling-off period’ mentioned by the Central Bank Governor [Elvira Nabiullina]. That is, there is no need to wait for anything. In general, everything is clear, we just need to act,” Putin said, asking to start addressing the issue with the State Duma deputies without delay. “We just need to highlight key points, dot the i's and complete this work, and as the decisions are implemented, analyze the law enforcement practice and make adjustments” the Russian leader concluded.
