Russians make payments through ‘Pay with Glance’ service more often
Nearly 1 million SberBank customers have signed up for the Pay with Glance service. In a year, they used the service for 500,000 transactions.
Sberbank Deputy Chairman Stanislav Kuznetsov said that the service was getting increasingly popular, with its popularity to grow further in the near future.
“Many people prefer biometrics as a convenient and fast contactless payment method, with the number of customers who use our biometric options reaching almost 1 million to date. In a year, the service was used for 500,000 transactions. With on the last month, we have seen a 50% increase in transactions. Besides, partners are readily joining the project. Today, you can pay using facial recognition at X5, Magnit, Prime and VkusVill supermarkets. Let me remind you that Sberbank customers can enable the payment service using a mobile application. It is solely on the side of Sber where biometric data are registered and stored and connection to the Pay with Glance service takes place,” said Stanislav Kuznetsov.
To use this technology, it is enough to select the ‘Pay with Glance’ option (in the ‘Cards’ or ‘Profile’ section) and choose a card to be debited when paying by face. Data are transferred online: you need to follow the instructions in the bank's application. The whole process will take less than a minute.
When making payments using biometric acquiring in the amount exceeding 1,000 rubles, it is necessary to type in a five-digit security code that is already known by those SberBank customers who use biometrics at the bank’s ATMs.
