According to Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of Sberbank Board, the bank stopped a large-scale attack on the cards of Russians launched by a Ukrainian application developer who tried to withdraw funds from the accounts of the entire customer base within a day.

“Almost immediately after the start of the special operation, we stopped the massive debiting of funds from the cards of our clients, with the number of attempted debits reaching tens of thousands per minute. Our investigation showed that these debiting transactions were initiated by a Ukrainian company – a developer of mobile applications,” said Stanislav Kuznetsov.

Stanislav Kuznetsov adds that this company, supports about 50 various official applications, which sold subscriptions to nutrition plans, fitness programs, etc. absolutely legally. In violation of the requirements of international payment systems, the company captured and stored bank card data of its customers, and then initiated mass debits across the entire accumulated database within a day.

Sberbank has rejected several hundred thousand attempted debiting transactions; the customers’ money is out of danger.
