Uzbekistan allows solar-powered crypto mining for legal entities

From January 1, 2023, businesses in the Republic of Uzbekistan will be allowed to buy and sell cryptocurrency using electricity generated by solar power plants. The respective decree was signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

“Mining is exclusively allowed for a legal entity using electricity generated by a solar plant,” reads the document published on the website of the national legislative base.
According to it, the miners using the resources of the main power grid of Uzbekistan, will pay double the regular price, and during peak consumption period extra surcharges will be added to the current rates.

Also, from January 1, 2023, physical persons  and legal entities of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be able to buy, sell and exchange crypto assets through national service providers only.
