Payment applications will support Mir card transactions

A directive published by the Bank of Russia requires Mir cards to be supported in applications starting from October 1, 2023.

“The payment application provider must ensure that the clients of money transfer operators can use national payment instruments in the payment application of the provider, if the use of payment cards is envisaged in such application,” the Central Bank's regulation says.

As of November 1, 2021, the list of payment application providers includes 63 organizations. Some of them, in particular Samsung ElectronicsCo Ltd., Apple Distribution International Ltd. have already implemented the support of Mir card payments for users of their applications.
