Sber launches money transfers to China by phone number
Sber has enabled money transfers to a wallet in China by phone number. To send money, the phone number and full name of the recipient should be entered in Sberbank Online. The transfer will be automatically credited to the respective wallet in Chinese yuan(RMB) with 1% charged as a fee.
The service was launched jointly with Alipay, a major payment system and part of Alibaba Group, used by more than 460 thousand companies. Western Union, a global leader in international and intercurrency money transfers and payments, was also a partner.
“Today we have added another country to the geography of Sber's cross-border transfers. I am sure that the transfer service to China will be popular with our clients,” said Leonid Shnyr, Director of Payments and Transfers Division at Sber.
