Decree on cryptocurrency circulation specifics passed in Belarus
The document provides for a register to be created by the High-Tech Park to include addresses of virtual wallets used in illegal activities and establishes the register keeping procedure. The decree is designed to protect the digital asset market participants from the loss of property and prevent unintended involvement in activities prohibited by law.
The document notes that Belarus is consistently developing the legal framework to regulate digital assets related activities, and, unlike many other states, allows the free circulation of digital currencies. At the same time, this requires constant monitoring of the situation, as well as amending and clarifying regulatory norms as necessary, to exclude, inter alia, shadow financing of prohibited activities.
